Question 1

Who is this project a great fit for?

Accepted Answer

BlueRobins projects are designed for curious students in Grades 3-12 who want to build. No prior experience is needed — mentors start wherever your child is and grow the challenge as they grow.

Question 2

What does a typical session look like?

Accepted Answer

Your child meets 1-on-1 with their mentor every week over Google Meet. Programs run 16 sessions of 45 minutes each. Sessions are hands-on from minute one — building, designing, coding, writing, experimenting — with the mentor coaching live, asking great questions, and unlocking the next step.

Question 3

What will my child build by the end?

Accepted Answer

A finished project they're proud of and can show the world. Across 16 sessions, your child turns an ambitious idea into a working app, prototype, research write-up, portfolio, or published artifact. Every student finishes with a completion certificate signed by their mentor.

Question 4

Why a free trial first?

Accepted Answer

So your child can meet their mentor, get a feel for the project, and leave the call excited. The trial is a complimentary 1-on-1 free trial session — no credit card needed. After the trial, you decide if it's the right fit. Most families know within the first 15 minutes.

Question 5

How will my child stay engaged week after week?

Accepted Answer

Because the work is theirs. Every project is built around what the student personally cares about — their own app, their own research question, their own art. Mentors keep momentum high with weekly milestones, honest feedback, and the kind of one-on-one attention students don't get in a classroom of 30.

Question 6

How does this prepare my child for what's next?

Accepted Answer

Students walk away with three things colleges and future opportunities care about: a finished project they can showcase, a mentor relationship in a professional field, and the confidence that comes from having built something hard. For older students, completed projects become standout portfolio pieces, research write-ups, and college essay material.

Question 7

How will I see my child's progress?

Accepted Answer

Your parent dashboard becomes a window into every session. You'll get an AI-generated summary, key highlights, and the next set of action items right after each meeting — so you always know what was covered, what's next, and how your child is growing. Optional session recordings are also available with parental consent.

Question 8

Who are the mentors?

Accepted Answer

Practicing experts your child gets to learn directly from — researchers and graduate students from top-20 universities, scientists, founders building frontier startups, and entrepreneurs working in the field they teach. Every mentor is interviewed, background-checked, and quality-reviewed to keep the experience consistently great.

Question 9

How does the schedule work?

Accepted Answer

You and the mentor pick a recurring weekly time that fits your family's life. Sessions happen on Google Meet using the same link every week — no juggling new invites — and Google Calendar invites are sent for every session so it's always on your radar.

Question 10

How does billing work?

Accepted Answer

Billing is based on completed sessions, not a monthly subscription, billed through Stripe. Pay in full upfront, or split it into installments. This is a hardware project, so two costs sit outside the mentorship price and are always shown separately: the parts your family buys (typically $50–$100, and your student keeps them), and a one-time $50 Mentor Lab Fee for lab consumables, tools, testing and prototyping support, charged once with your first payment. No other enrollment fees, no surprise charges.

Question 11

What does the $50 lab fee cover?

Accepted Answer

Your mentor's lab consumables, tool usage, testing materials, prototyping resources and other supporting materials they use to help your student build.

Question 12

Is the $50 lab fee per month or per project?

Accepted Answer

Per project. It is charged once, with your first payment for the project, and never again on later blocks. It is shown as its own line, separate from the mentorship price.

Question 13

Who purchases the hardware?

Accepted Answer

Families purchase the project-specific hardware for their student. Your mentor lists exactly what to buy, with links, on the project page.

Question 14

How much do hardware projects typically cost?

Accepted Answer

Mentors design hardware projects so the parts list stays around $50–$100.

Question 15

What if a project costs more than $100?

Accepted Answer

Higher-cost projects are discussed and approved with your family in advance — nothing above that range is bought without you agreeing first.

Question 16

Do students keep the hardware?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Students keep the hardware and the projects they build.
